Old Upper Gwestydd Reviews

The initial impact of the house when you first pull up onto the driveway is amazing! The sage green and old brick really give the house a grand but country feel. Inside the tiled floors make it feel ‘country cottage’ but the cinema room and hot tub bring it right up to date! We loved having two living rooms, it meant we could have one and the kids, the other! The extremely spacious bedrooms were very well presented and the beds were very comfortable. Plenty of well deserved lie-ins! My favourite spot in the house was round the side, sat with my morning cup of tea before everyone else was awake, gazing out over the hills. So calm and peaceful. We had such a lovely week and will definitely be back again!

This is without doubt the best holiday let i have stayed in so far, the rooms were large and bright and well decorated, the games room and cinema room were fab, and the beds were super comfy. the place had a fireplace but it was so warm you didn't really need to use this other the the novelty. the hot tub sat in the garden over looking sheep filled hills was also great. the area to visit is superb as you are nicely central to travel in all directions, including back over the border to Shropshire. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, and the welcome pack was amazing, the fresh eggs had double yolks, haven't seen that since i was a kid!! And talking of kids, if they like castles, there's plenty to see on both sides of the border, or of course if you love history(plus the Iron Bridge & Victorian village which was well worth a visit). i did see there were comments about the property not having a downstairs toilet and yes, that is correct. but so long as you are able bodied, the stairs are nice and wide. I took my 87 year old Dad with me and he managed ok.
